Competition Team

Our Teams
The Apple Capital Gymnastics teams compete in both the USAG Development Program (Levels 3-10) and the Xcel program. We offer two competitive tracks because we recognize that no single path fits every gymnast. If you’re new to competitive gymnastics, your coach will collaborate with you and your gymnast to determine the best track for their skills and goals.
Competition season is from December through March and includes one in-house competition and 5 qualifying competitions around Washington and Idaho. Post-season meets for those who qualify, such as state and regional championships, will occur from March through May.
Our competitive teams are by invitation or tryout only. If you are interested in joining one of our teams, please contact us for more information.
Compulsory Team (Level 3-5)
In the Compulsory competitive levels, routines are choreographed by USAG meaning that every child in the country will perform the same routine based on their level. The gymnasts compete at USAG invitational meets and receive awards based on their scores at each event in their age level and division.
Compulsory levels are progressive in nature, building upon skills acquired at the previous level. The focus is on learning how to compete while they begin training on more advanced skills. The program allows all gymnasts to advance at their own pace. Gymnasts must develop a strong foundation of basic skills and perfect them in order to advance to the next level.
Level 3 gymnasts train 7 hours per week.
Level 4-5 gymnasts train 10.5 hours per week.
Optionals Team (Level 6-10)
In the Optionals competitive levels, routines are not choreographed by USAG. Gymnasts perform their own individual routines expressing their own style and personality. These levels are still required to perform specific skill sets.
Just like our Compulsory Levels, Optionals are progressive in nature, building upon skills acquired at the previous level. The focus is on learning how to compete with their own unique flare, while they continue training on more advanced skills. This program allows all gymnasts to advance at their own pace. Gymnasts must develop a strong foundation of basic skills and perfect them in their current level in order to advance to the next level.
Level 6-10 gymnasts train 14 hours per week.
Xcel Team
Xcel Gymnastics is a competitive gymnastics program under USAG designed to provide gymnasts with a flexible, fun, and affordable alternative to the traditional Development Program (DP). It offers five competitive levels—Bronze, Silver, Gold, Platinum, and Diamond—allowing athletes of various skill levels to participate while balancing other activities. Xcel emphasizes individual progression, creativity, and a positive competitive experience, making it ideal for gymnasts who want to enjoy the sport without the intense time and financial commitments of DP gymnastics.
Xcel Gold gymnasts train 10.5 hours per week.
